History

The resource base you are visiting has grown from a HEFCE-funded project, Premia - making research education accessible, based at Newcastle University from 2003-05. The project's aims are to improve provision for disabled postgraduate research students, to increase the number of disabled research students at UK institutions and to improve the quality of their experience. This website is home to all the resources which have emerged from the project.

The creation of this resource base depended on many people, most particularly on the students whose voices you find here and who wish to remain anonymous. We thank our Advisory Group for their support and guidance. Project officers Val Farrar (research, interviews, writing, web input and development to 2007) and Penny Warin (careers elements, e-mentoring) carried out the project. Alan Brice, Sandra Chilton, Stan Taylor and Richard Young directed the project.

I can detect that moment when you suddenly realise that you're not sure what to do
